Each wedding season, we offer one or two internship openings for eager, creative souls who are interested in learning about event floral design through full immersion experience. This brave intern will experience ten wedding weeks from beginning to end, starting with learning how to receive and process flowers, moving into creating arrangements, and then setting up and breaking down a wedding, as well as every other important detail in between. Other tasks will include general studio upkeep, gathering and sorting supplies, spray painting the occasional item, petting the dogs, and being flexible to fulfill a variety of roles that arise in a flower studio. Most of our interns are also interested in learning about the business side of florals and will sit in on client consultations and shadow some of our behind the scenes processes.
COULD YOU BE WHAT WE NEED?
We are looking for someone who is excited, hungry to learn, tough, and willing to possibly rip a few pairs of pants along the way (it happens more than you know). Our ideal intern is able to work in a fast paced environment, problem solve with the best of them when in a pinch, provide excellent customer service that includes a lot of smiling, be as pleasant mannered/enthusiastic as possible about hard work and about flowers, and be able to work well independently as well as in a team.
This internship is a paid position with a ten week commitment from March 21st through May 28th. Applicants must be able to commit to working at the studio at least two days a week throughout the internship, and a minimum of five weekend events for both setup and breakdown. Obvious perks of the job will include learning flower skills and gaining what we hope will be invaluable experience. Additional tidbits include an endless supply of coffee and a crew of new friends.
