The Floral Installation Workshop

A labor of love brought to you by Amy Balsters of The Floral Coach® and Lauren and Rachel of Sweet Root Village. This immersive three day workshop focused entirely on floral Installations, focused on building confidence in large scale design. You can learn more about the structure and information here.

We spent time deep diving dozens of mechanic usages for a variety of styles of installations, spending time with some hands on practice using tools. We showcased pre-designed pieces with exposed mechanics, discussing pricing and recipes. We talked about color theory and building visual and color balance in large scale works. We talked about conceptualization, selling, pitching, pricing, safety, ordering, labor and production, transportation, and execution of large scale installations and discussed some very specific ways to help in the planning and execution of our floral attendee’s upcoming pain points and plans for their work! And then each attendee was able to plan, prepare, and build a personal installation of any style to put what they learned to work and to step outside of their normal comfort zones.

We are incredibly grateful to have had an amazing collection of contributors who helped make this workshop possible. See below!

Huge thank you to our team for managing so much behind the scenes. Thank you to Amy Balsters for being the BEST co-host for this amazing workshop. Not only do we love knowing you and working with but we love learning from you. Getting to teach alongside you is an honor.

A big thank you to Akbar Sayed Photography for being an incredible vendor partner, capturing two days of floral magic and behind the scenes moments for us and the workshop attendees. You’re a joy to spend time with and your care for people is evident. And YOU can see more of his work here on his website.

For product and mechanics –– a huge thank you to Accent Decor for being so wonderfully supportive of all our ventures, this time sending a large collection of structures and mechanics that attendees were able to practice with, handle in person, and discuss working with! Thank you to Potomac Floral Wholesale, East Texas Smilax, Ball SB Cut Flowers, Alexandra Farms, Regional Farms, and Ferntrust Inc for being INCREDIBLE floral and foliage partners. Each of your particular strengths served this group of attendees so well. From fabulous foliages (ferntrust and regional), incredible dahlia and garden rose varieties (alexandra), lush and perfect smilax (east texas), insanely epic varieties of delphinium (ball), and every other type of hearty installation stable (potomac). We felt incredibly supported and our attendees were able to handle some new and exciting fresh product!
